Bra sizes can vary between countries which can make it tricky to find your size especially when you are looking for a new bra. Here at AmpleBosom.com our bra specialists can advise about bra sizes and help you find a comfortable and well fitting bra.
We have recently been asked if our bra sizes are in US sizes or European sizes.
Most of our bra sizes are stated in UK sizing on our website. Those bras which are not made in double cup sizes e.g FF, GG, HH are in US or European sizing. Please refer to our bra size chart below.
Bra sizing can vary between manufacturers, so our easy-to-follow bra cup size conversion chart can help you find the right fit.
Bra Brands In UK Bra Sizes
Berlei, Elomi, Fantasie, Goddess, Freya and Royce bras are sized in UK bra sizes.
The UK bra size brands have both single cup sizes and double cup sizes.
Bra Brands In US Bra Sizes
Glamorise and Triumph bras are sized in US bra sizes. These brands mainly have single cup sizes but may have the odd double cup size eg DD.
Bra Brands In European Bra Sizes
Anita Comfort, Anita Rosa Faia, Empreinte, Felina, PrimaDonna and Ulla Dessous bras are sized in European / Continental bra sizes.
These brands that fall into our European bra sizes only have single bra sizes and do not have double cup sizes such as DD, FF, GG etc.
Measuring Your Bra Size At Home
If you would like to check your bra measurements then take a look at our bra measuring guide for tips and advice on measuring your bra size at home.
A brief overview of how to measure for a bra:
- Start by measuring your under bust whilst wearing a bra. Pull fairly tight and measure in inches.
- Once you have measured your under bust, now measure over the fullest part of the bust, again this should be measured in inches.
- Now you have your two measurements, the first measurement (under bust) you need to add four or five inches to in order to find the correct band size as an equal number. For example if you measured a 38 you would add four inches to reach a 42, if you were a 39 you would add five inches to reach a 44.
- Then you need to take away your under bust measurement (excluding the extra inches you added) from your over bust. This will provide you with your cup measurement. Every inch counts as a cup size. For example 0 inches difference will be an A Cup, 1 inch will be a B cup and so on.
- You should now have your final measurement! Use this size to buy your bras but please note that this is just a guide, everybody is shaped differently and unfortunately we cannot produce a perfect guide for everyone. Take a look at our blogpost which breast shape am I for advice about breast shapes and recommended bras for different shaped breasts.
- At the end of the day, you know best which fit works for you. Each brand fits differently as some do double cup sizes whereas others don’t. So it may take a bit of trial and error to find the perfect fit. Don’t forget we are only a phone call away if you need some extra advice.
We have a team of friendly bra specialists who can talk you through the bra measuring guide and discuss your needs and help you with the sizing so you get a comfortable and well fitting bra. If you want to send us your bra measurements - the overbust and underbust sizes, then we can make specific bra recommendations to find you the right fit.
