HOW TO CHOOSE A COMFORTABLE BRA
We all want to wear a comfortable bra whatever the occasion or whatever style of bra we choose. From everyday wear to special occasions, for sports activities or breast feeding, a comfortable, well fitting and supportive bra is top priority and what we all deserve. There is nothing worse than wearing the wrong bra size or wearing ill fitting bras or a bra throughout the day with wires poking into you, straps falling off the shoulders, bulging cups and scratchy fabric, longing for the end of the day so you can take it off. To avoid these bra problems and to help you find a comfortable bra we have picked out some features that help make a bra feel comfortable, so you can find the perfect bra in the right bra size, cup size and band size for you.
FEATURES TO LOOK FOR IN COMFORTABLE BRAS
No Wires - Non wired or wirefree bras with soft cups are very comfortable. If you are worried about support, then look for bras that provide side support.
Underwires - If the bra has wires, they should lie flat against the rib cage and not dig in. If you are wanting an underwired bra then look for a bra where the wires have a cushioned fabric covering them for extra comfort.
Seamless Cups - Seamless cups can be more comfortable as they have less stitching.
Moulded Cups - Moulded cups tend to be smooth, padded and have no stitching.
Full Cups - A full cup bra can be more comfortable as the breast is fully encased.
Cotton Fabric - A high cotton content fabric is comfortable especially in warmer weather or when exercising and it's also perfect for sensitive skin.
Moisture Wicking Fabric - For a comfortable sports bra look for a bra that is made from a moisture wicking fabric to help keep you cool and dry during exercise.
Wide Padded Straps - Wide padded straps offer comfort and are less likely to fall off the shoulder.
Adjustable Straps - Straps that can be adjusted are less likely to slip off the shoulder as you can adjust them. Click on the shop now button to browse our extensive bra collection

HOW TO CHECK A BRA FITS WELL AND COMFORTABLY
A well fitting and supportive bra will be comfortable but how do you know if the bra is fitted correctly?
-
Band – the band should be secure and level all the way round, not riding up at the back. The band should sit snug underneath the breast tissue if the band size is correct.
-
Straps – the straps should run parallel at the back and take the weight from the shoulders. Straps should not dig into the shoulders. Adjust the shoulder straps to ensure they are neither too loose nor too tight. The straps should sit parallel at the back. When trying on a new bra always wriggle the shoulders to ensure the straps do not slip.
-
Cups – breasts should be comfortably enclosed in the cups. No bulging or gaping at the top or the sides. Always make sure the nipples are centralised in the cup. Put your hand inside the cup and lift and sweep the breasts.
-
Centre panel - the centre front fitting should be snug to the chest wall with no gaps or digging in.
-
Underarm - snug fit at the underarm, not too tight and not gaping.
-
Wires – if underwired the wires should lie flat. You should not be able to feel the wires when you move around and touch your toes. Stretch your arms towards the ceiling. When you bring your arms back down to your sides, the wires should not dig in.
