WHAT TO DO IF YOUR BRA CUPS PUCKER?
Does your bra cup pucker and seem a bit wrinkly? This is a bra problem that we are often asked about.
WHY DO MY BRA CUPS PUCKER?
It is often a sign that you're not wearing the right size bra if your bra cups pucker and wrinkle and we recommend trying a different bra size and bra style. If your bra cups pucker or wrinkle at the tip then the bra cup could be too small and you need a different cup size. The bra is too small because the breast tissue can't reach the centre of the cup to give a smooth line so the cup starts to wrinkle. The breasts should fit comfortably in the cups with no puckering.
Our bra specialists advise – “Try a bigger cup size, adjust the bra straps or try a balcony style bra. Put your hand inside the cup and lift and sweep the breast tissue so the nipples are centralised and your breasts are fully encased in the cups.”
What to look for – Breasts and breast tissue should be comfortably encased in the bra cups and bra straps should run parallel at the back. Always make sure the nipples are centralised in the cup.

TIPS TO HELP WHEN BRA CUPS PUCKER
Here are a few helpful tips to solve this problem of the bra cups puckering.
-
Tighten your bra straps as this may help to fill the cups across the breasts and stop the cups from wrinkling and puckering up.
-
If the cups on your bra pucker then try wearing a bra in a bigger cup size - increase the cup size by one without altering the bra band size to ensure your cups fit. Have a look at our measuring guide for help with taking your measurements.
-
It could be a style issue, if you find that the cups pucker towards the top when you are wearing a full cup then you may need to change the style and shape of the bra you are wearing, such as wearing a non padded bra. - Put your hand inside the cup and lift and sweep the breasts so the nipples are centralised and your breasts are fully encased in the cups.
- We recommend checking your bra every 6 to 9 months to check it still fits correctly and that it doesn’t show signs of wear and tear that can affect the fit.

What to Look For In A Comfortable Well Fitting Bra
A well fitting and supportive bra will be comfortable but how do you know if the bra is fitted correctly? We have put together a guide to help you find a well fitting bra.
- Band – the band should be secure and level all the way round, not riding up at the back. The band should sit snug underneath the breast tissue.
- Straps – the straps should run parallel at the back and take the weight from the shoulders. Straps should not dig into the shoulders. Adjust the shoulder straps to ensure they are neither too loose nor too tight. The straps should sit parallel at the back. When trying on a new bra always wriggle the shoulders to ensure the straps do not slip.
- Cups – breasts should be comfortably enclosed in the cups. No bulging or gaping at the top or the sides. Always make sure the nipples are centralised in the cup. Put your hand inside the cup and lift and sweep the breasts.
- Centre panel - the centre front fitting should be snug to the chest wall with no gaps or digging in.
- Underarm - snug fit at the underarm, not too tight and not gaping.
- Wires – if underwired the wires should lie flat. You should not be able to feel the wires when you move around and touch your toes. Stretch your arms towards the ceiling. When you bring your arms back down to your sides, the wires should not dig in.
